Oh Elvira!

Happy Friday everyone!

I am very excited for this weekend, mostly because that means that I do not need to work. So what a better way to end the work week than to watch a campy "horror" movie. I use the term horror very lightly here because it's more campy than anything, but the main actress has done quite a bit for the cheesy/campy horror genre.

Why don't you watch the trailer...

See what I mean Jelly Bean?

Maybe now.

No? Okay how about this...
Gotta love Ms. Elvira!

So if you're in the mood for just a silly campy film with a lot of innuendos, this one, (or really any Elvira film) will be sure to put a smile on  your face. Imagine Mystery Science Theater 3000 minus the robots but with a great big pair of ...well you know what.

This gem of a movie was directed by James Signorelli and stars Cassandra Peterson as the wonderful Elvira. Plus there are a lot of other familiar faces that you might recognize.

Now some of the acting is forced and very predictable which can get annoying. Also if you have a fear of yellow teeth...try not to pay attention to anyone's mouth. Granted this movie was filmed in 1988, way before the teeth whitening crazy of today, but still gross.

One thing that struck me as odd is that Elvira is a pretty creepy (and awesome) lady and does things unconventionally. So when she inherits her great aunt's house and sees that it's a bit run down (and ironically the same house that the TV show the Munsters used) she hates it. Leaves me wondering, "What the hell Elvira!? This house is perfect for you!"

Other than that this is a fairly typical, rebellious person who doesn't meet the social standard moves to a new tiny town and is shunned because they're different and they have obstacles to over come.

IMBD gives this movie a 5.7 out of 10 stars. Rotten Tomatoes gives it a 43% with a 63% audience approval. I myself give this a 3 out of 5 skulls, it's just such wonderful cheesy goodness you can't help but love it!

Until next time dearies!
Sleep tight and don't let the zombies bite!
