The Cell

Good morning fellow creepsters!

Today I will be reaching into my personal collection again and reviewing:

I remember seeing this movie when I was younger and being absolutely fascinated by it. Released in 2000 and directed by Tarsem Singh this movie stars Jennifer Lopez, Vince Vaughn, and Vincent D'Onofrio.

The premise of this movie is: An FBI agent persuades a social worker, who is adept with a new experimental technology, to enter the mind of a comatose serial killer in order to learn where he has hidden his latest kidnap victim. - used from IMDB

The cinematography and imagery used in this movie is fantastic, especially when it comes to the dream sequences.

And I must admit, when it comes to the CGI -- it's not bad. The horse scene with Carl is pretty fantastic, gross yes, but CGI wise, kudos.

Having seen a lot of horror movies re-watching The Cell has reminded me of other movies such as Silent Hill (2006) , Thirteen Ghosts (2001), and Seven (1995).

Now there is not a whole lot of gore in this movie, but there are some scenes dealing with child abuse that are pretty hard to watch.

One of the grievances that I have with this movie, and it is very minute, is the fact that the back hoop piercings that they showed on Carl would not bunch up like that on his back, you can clearly see that it is just special effect make-up.

IMDB gives The Cell 6.2 out of 10 stars and Rotten Tomatoes gives it 45% with a 52% audience approval rating. I am going to give this movie a 4 out of 5 skulls -- a very great movie, but the choice of actors leaves you feel like there is something missing mostly because of the performance by Vaughn.

Until tomorrow,
Sleep tight and don't let the zombies bite!
